Pirojsha Godrej is taking control of the Godrej Industries group. He will succeed Nadir Godrej as Chairperson of the Godrej Industries Group and Godrej Industries Limited, effective August 14, 2026.
Pirojsha will also continue to serve as Chairperson of Godrej Properties, Godrej Capital, and Godrej Ventures.
With this change, there is general expectation of an aggressive growth outlook for the group going forward.
Pirojsha has now shared some key targets for the group.
- Target market capitalisation of Rs 5 lakh crore by 2031 for the group. Currently, this is around 40-45% of that.
- This is hoped to be achieved through 15% annual sales growth, more than 20% earnings growth and return on equity of over 18% across businesses.
- Number of listed companies would also be increased from 3 to 5 during the period. Godrej Capital and Chemicals are likely listing candidates. Both are currently under Godrej Industries.
Godrej has been an under performing conglomerate compared with many others. Hopefully Pirojsha will change that while balancing the group’s traditional conservatism.
