The Bank has received RBI approval for Anup Kumar Saha as the Bank’s Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer for a period of three years, effective January 1, 2027.
- He had joined Kotak Mahindra Bank in January 2026, and is currently working as an Executive Director of the bank. He is currently looking after the Retail Bank, Data Analytics and Marketing function.
- Anup has over 32 years of professional experience, including 25 years in financial services across bank and NBFCs.
- Between 2017 to 2025, he was with Bajaj Finance and exited from there as Managing Director & CEO.
- Before Bajaj, for 14 years, he was at ICICI Bank across various functions.
- Earlier he had also worked with GE Capital.
- He holds a B. Tech degree in Engineering from IIT Kharagpur and an MBA from IIM Lucknow.
Post Uday Kotak’s tenure, the bank has struggled to find a viable successor. Ashok Vaswani’s appointment in January 2024, has not helped the cause much.
Let’s hope that Anup’s appointment changes the course and puts it back on track to it’s old glorious days.
