Eternal, the parent entity of Zomato and Blinkit, plans to launch dark.ai, a privacy-focused artificial intelligence (AI) assistant, by the end of 2026.
Founder Deepinder Goyal said “Dark is built for power users — founders, researchers, scientists, enterprises and governments — who want to keep their thoughts private, because privacy is essential for competitiveness. On top of privacy, we have fine-tuned our models to give you the absolute best quality of answers we have seen from any LLM (benchmarks will be revealed soon). Our models are trained to not please you, and tell you what they think is the truth.”
- It seems that Dark AI will compete with the general AI models globally and it’s not anyway related to the existing business of Eternal.
- As there is a mention of power users and focus on accuracy and privacy, the offering seems to be focused towards niche paying audience.
Given the fund requirements for such a product, global competition from giants and continued need for development, I will be surprised if investors get excited about such a diversification.
