On October 15, 2021, L&T announced the launch of L&T Edutech (LTE) – it’s entry into the rapidly growing virtual education sector.
It has now appointed Sabyasachi Das as the CEO of this Company.
Key points to note –
- Sabyasachi is a Cognizant veteran having spent more than 22 years at the Company across various roles. Before joining LTE he was the head of delivery at Cognizant’s North America Banking and Financial Services division.
- Sabyasachi’s experience at Cognizant has been mostly in the banking and financial services domain.
- LTE aims to draw on L&T’s extensive project execution experience to train students and professionals with real world professional skilling and make them employable. The Company aims to offer College Connect, Professional & Vocational Skilling underpinned by Assessment & Certification processes.
Success of Byju’s has prompted traditional Indian businesses to look at the edutech sector more seriously. Covid has further provided the necessary tailwind.
Other than L&T, likes of Hero group (Hero Vired) and Reliance (Embibe) are also trying out this space.
